July 2018 Squarespace Product Updates

Every week as a Squarespace Circle Member (sign-up if you regularly build client websites) we get the latest product updates sent to our email. We realized that even though this community is growing, there are a lot of other Squarespace users that don’t get these updates, so the Brad Good team wanted to compile the most important changes every month in a easy to read blog post.

If you are wondering about all of the new updates Squarespace released in July, read more below!

Week: July 16 to July 22

Track visits and revenue from paid search in Analytics

There’s a new Paid Search channel in Traffic Sources that tracks visits and revenue from paid search ads (like on Google AdWords). On the Personal plan, this traffic is included in the general Paid channel.

Before this update, paid search traffic counted under the Search channel. If you’ve noticed a dip in data under Search recently, it’s because those numbers have moved to Paid Search or Paid.

The Traffic Sources Analytics guide is updated with all of the details and a breakdown of available data by plan.

Week: July 23 to July 29

No more character minimum on collection item slugs

By popular demand, the URL slug for a collection item (like a blog post or product) can now be as short as one character. Previously, there was a three-character minimum. The minimum still applies to main pages.

More account security

We added an invisible Google reCAPTCHA to our login pages, so you’ll see fine print below the email and password fields saying Secure Login with reCAPTCHA subject to Google Terms & Privacy. This doesn’t affect how you’ll log in or add any additional steps to the process–it’s an under-the-hood security enhancement.
